Inventory Report vs. Random Audit

Inventory Report vs. Random Audit

This guide helps you determine whether the Inventory Report or Random Audits is the right tool for your needs.

An Inventory Report is a full scan of a storage location where every item is physically scanned and compared to what SAFE expects. This is typically used for annual audits, inspections, or when you need to verify complete accuracy of a location.

An Audit (Random Audit) reviews a smaller, selected group of items without scanning an entire storage location. This is used for routine checks, spot verification, or ongoing quality control.

 SAFE TIPS:

Use an Inventory Report when:
  1. Preparing for an inspection or accreditation
  2. Verifying all items in a storage location
  3. Investigating widespread discrepancies
Use an Audit (Random Audit) when:
  1. Performing routine or periodic checks
  2. Spot-checking specific item categories
  3. Monitoring compliance without scanning everything
