How to Pinpoint Locations on Google Maps from SAFE Cases



  1. Search for all Cases you would like to pinpoint on the map:



  1. Select all cases, select “Export”, and select “All - CSV”,  (If you are only mapping certain cases from your case search, then select all applicable cases, select “Export”, and select “Selected - CSV”




  1. SAFE will automatically redirect you to the Export Jobs page.  Once your “Percent Complete” reaches 100.  A download button will appear.


  1. Open your CSV file


  1. There will be columns that you will not need.  Delete all columns with information you do not want on your map - Make sure you keep Offense Location and whatever you want to use to name/title these locations on your map.  For example, this could be your Case Number, Offense Date, or a custom data form like Case Name.

Data with Columns Removed - I have decided I want my map to tell me the Case Number, Case Officer, Offense Type, Offense Location, Offense Date, and Case Name:


  1. Save your CSV spreadsheet.
  2. Once saved, open / sign into My Maps  (https://mymaps.google.com/)
  3. Create a new map


  1. Name your map


  1. Import your CSV spreadsheet

  1. Choose which column you are using to pinpoint your locations:


  1. Choose which column you are using to name/title your locations: (For this example, I am going to use my custom data form for Case Names)


  1. Select Finish 

Your map should look something like this when completed:


When I select a location, it will pull up the information I included from my CSV spreadsheet:
